Hi friends,
how are you doing? Today it is my turn again and I can't wait to share my two cards I created for this post! They are so fun!

To create these I used the beautiful May 2018 card kit again and focused on the stencil and stamp set this time around!
Have you ever used a stencil to emboss a design onto your cardstock? If not, you should totally try it out - so many more design ideas and much more ways to use your product in different ways!

To do so, you need a special sandwich for your die cutting machine. I have the embossing/ score board from Sizzix - one is very hard and replaces the cutting plate for the top and one rubber/ silicone mat. It depends on your cutting machine how you build the sandwich. For the Big Shot I start with the platform and one cutting plate, lay down the stencil and place my cardstock on top and then cover it with the silicone mat. I then place the hard plate on top and run it through my machine.
That way you can also use die-cuts as embossing plates!
I embossed the light pink cardstock from the kit with the beautiful Neat and Tangled stencil and then used the second largest scalloped die from Neat and Tangled to cut out a frame. I used the small stitched rectangles from Lawn Fawn for added interest around the border.
For the first card I decided to back my opening with the patterned paper from the kit and placed a sheet of vellum over it to mute the color a little bit. I always struggle using patterned paper or scrapbook embellishments in my cards, so by using vellum over it, it feels more manageable for me to use the products.
I added my floral image which I colored using Alcohol markers. My sentiment is heat embossed in white onto some black cardstock. As a finishing touch I used clear Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew - they appear like little raindrops on the flower.

My second card is build the exact same way. I used the cut out piece from my first card and created a frame for it out of white cardstock. Then I placed the embossed piece as an inlay to the frame and just added my floral image and sentiment.
I again used clear Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew to finish off the card!
I hope you enjoyed todays post and will give embossing with stencils a try!
Have a good day and happy crafting,
Laureen
