When I got this kit in the mail I squeezed because it is just so adorable - the papers match the theme perfectly and have great patterns to use for cards! And don't even get me started on the cute stamp set - the otters and the sentiments are amazing!
For my first card I decided to create a frame using the Just love paper. To create a frame I used Stitched Rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn and layered them together, so that they create a border.
I also cut two pieces of white cardstock using the Stitched Hillside borders from Lawn Fawn to create waves for the water my otter is hanging out in.
My otters are colored using Copic Markers and white card stock. I stamped the images and then used the dies that also come included in the kit to cut out the otter and the little heart he is holding.
I am not a huge lover of the white border around the cut out images, when I layer pieces on top of each other. I simply colored the outline of the heart and added black lines to make it look like there never was a border ;)
Originally I wanted my sentiment to be curved like the wave, but my stamp just wouldn't hold the shape plus I had already adhered everything together onto my card base when that idea hit. So I simply used the sentiment as is in my Misti and stamped it. To finish off the card I used a couple of the sequins from Neat and Tangled we get in this kit and card number one was finished.
Onto card two. As soon as I saw the die that cuts out the otters paws so they can hold the little images in the stamp set, I knew I would use that and make it an interactive card!
I love to include interactive elements onto my cards, because that adds a little extra something and interest.
For this one I used the blue side of the Just Love paper and a circle die to cut out two windows for my little otters to peak through.
I have a tip for you - I find it pretty hard to allign the die cut paws with the stamped image - I actually ruined two otters I had already colored that way. Maybe I am just stupid but maybe you'll also find it difficult. Here's what I did to make it work:
I just used a piece of card stock and cut the two paws out before I had stamped the image. That way I just had two little slits in my paper and was able to allign the stamps perfectly in my Misti.
I also cut out a heart and wanted the two otters be able to give other that heart. Therefore I used a string of white thread, attached the heart to it and they were able to do so. I used a needle and pierced a hole through the paper so that my thread would come through the otters hands and went back into the paper behind my other otters hands. I wish I had pictures showcasing how I've done it, but I simply forgot to take some.
After that was done I just needed to add a sentiment - I stamped it on vellum and attached that to my card.
Now the hearts from the stamp match are a perfect outline for the hearts on the patterned paper, so I stamped a couple of those for added interest.
